More and more >, AZ area home owners who wish to have the look of a fine wood floor in their homes are choosing laminate flooring instead. These floors offer the beauty of a wood floor without the high cost or the pain staking maintenance. Laminates floors these days, are not restricted to artificial looking designs, but companies these days offer a range of laminate tile choices in natural looking stone and marble finishes. Almost all rooms in the house are recommended for installing laminate flooring, except for bathrooms, saunas or areas that required damp mopping.
Laminate floors can come in the form of High Pressure Laminates which involve a double step process, and Direct Pressure Laminates that involve a single step fusing process. Always buy a High Pressure Laminate that may cost more but is long lasting, and comes with a superior inter locking system. These laminate floors also offer a greater variety of designs, and high quality of finishes. If you want laminate floor that look as close to a wood floor as possible, buy from the higher end of the price range. Before installing a laminate floor, make sure that the sub floor is smoothly laid out, and check each laminate plank for defects and damages.
Look for AC ratings to guide you in your choice of laminate floors. For high pressure areas like foyers and kitchens, laminate floors should have an AC 3 rating. Low pressure areas like bedrooms can get by with a lower rating. These ratings ensure that your laminate has passed all tests relating to staining, swelling, abrasion etc. Even so, a little maintenance will go a long way in keeping your laminate floor good looking for years to come. Protect your floor using rugs and mats, and make sure that all carpets used are made of color fast materials. Use furniture protectors to prevent your furniture legs from scratching your floors. Don't leave water standing on your laminate floor.
